- Anyone born on or after 1 Jan 1988 needs the Florida Boating Safety Education ID Card, an accepted NASBLA card from
  another state, or the FWC Temporary Certificate (online exam, 25 questions, 19 to pass, valid 90 days, Florida only)
  to operate a vessel of 10 hp or more (F.S. 327.395).
- Minimum age to operate a PWC in Florida: 14 (F.S. 327.39). A livery may not rent a motorized vessel to anyone under 18
  (F.S. 327.54). Every listing on this site asks for a driver of 18+ with photo ID.
- Everyone on a PWC wears a non-inflatable USCG-approved life jacket; the engine cut-off lanyard is attached to the
  operator; no PWC operation from 1/2 hour after sunset to 1/2 hour before sunrise (F.S. 327.39).
- Liveries must give pre-rental instruction: operation, right of way, local waters, emergencies (F.S. 327.54).
- Crab Island: a submerged sandbar at the mouth of Choctawhatchee Bay just north of the US-98 Marler Bridge, reached
  only by watercraft (Okaloosa County). East Pass is the bay's only outlet to the Gulf.
- Choctawhatchee Bay has a NOAA-recognized resident stock of bottlenose dolphins. NOAA: stay at least 50 yards away,
  view 30 minutes or less, never chase or feed. Feeding or harassing is illegal under the Marine Mammal Protection Act.
- Hurricane season 1 June - 30 November (NHC). Jaws 2 was filmed in Destin in 1977 (State Archives of Florida).
- Jet Ski is a Kawasaki trademark; WaveRunner is Yamaha's, Sea-Doo is BRP's. Florida law says personal watercraft.
